Currently, there is a growing need for increased attention to the hygienic factors shaping proper posture in university students. Incorrect training organization can lead to the development of the musculoskeletal system diseases and postural disorders. Physical activity and regular breaks while studying are also considered important hygiene factors. The study aimed to assess the major hygienic factors shaping posture in university students. The study involved 276 medical students and 108 students-teachers. We used sociological, hygienic, statistical research methods. Medical students, as the majority of young adults, usually fall in the height range corresponding to the height groups 5 and 6. The height of female students usually corresponds to the height group 5, although some exceptions are possible. Therefore, furniture designed for the 5th height is most often suitable for them. Male students are usually higher; many of them are in the 6th height group. Therefore, they need furniture for the 6th height. It is noted that the school furniture in the classrooms usually belongs to the height group 6. An individual approach to the selection of classroom furniture is required. Adjustable furniture should be used in educational institutions. It is recommended to include short physical exercises and active breaks in the daily routine in order to improve muscle tone and reduce tension.
